About
me
I am originally from the Lone Star State and graduated from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas in 2014. I completed my residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Nephrology at Baylor Scott and White - Texas A&M. I am a member of the American Society of Nephrology. My interest is in helping people navigate their chronic illness by means of an integrative approach. Your lifestyle and wellbeing is just as important to your health as your medications.
How can you deal with kidney disease and high blood pressure?
Work with me
I focus on treatment plans that include appropriate medication for the management of hypertension, Chronic Kidney Disease, glomerulonephropathies, kidney stones and other illness involving the kidneys. However it is important to provide you with steps you can take to manage your lifestyle on your path to better health. Take a look at a few of the major concepts we will discuss in addition to your medications.
Exercise
Exercise can improve baroreflex control and has been shown in scientific studies to reduce blood pressure in people with hypertension. Most people are healthy enough for some exercise but starting any regimen should be discussed with your doctor.
Nutrition
Diet is particulary important in patients with kidney disease. The kidneys are your body’s natural filtration system. Adjusting your diet to enhance their optimal function is key. Please scroll down to see resources that may be helpful to you.
Stress Reduction
I encourage all patients with hypertension to seriously consider stress reduction applications to fit their lifestyle. Stress can cause short spikes in blood pressure that can be harmful. Long-term stress has been associated with stress hormone release that can affect overall health.
